I've been watching a lot of Rick Beato's interviews with famous musicians. Especially recently. And it's so fascinating listening to these people that have created some of the records I listed to for hours and hours throughout my life. And one things that of course is always part of the conversation is the change of music technology. Rick is a producer himself and so has extensive knowledge about what technology came out when, what this microphone is good for, what guitar pedal was commonly used in this genre etc. But that makes it all the more interesting listening to him talking to some of the greats and how they produced some of the music that was so iconic.
The Wall by Pink Floyd is one of those albums that I have listed to so many times. And I know every song inside out and so hearing David Gilmour speak about the process of creating that album and the lengths they had to go do to include these subtle sounds is absolutely fascinating to me. I think this minute here summarizes it quite well.
